I have always seen
myself as a community artist. When I
was in undergrad, I actually designed my own
major and called it 'Community Art'. The intersection
of people, expression, and tactile art-making is so exciting
to me. Art-making really does open humans up; it helps them
put description into things they could never quite express in
words, it lets people be vulnerable, find themselves, find their
purpose, and most importantly, teaches them to see themselves
and their abilities through a completely new lens.
